  1. A Lovely Day Out at Standalone Farm Letchworth

Image of the sign at the entrance to Standalone Farm Letchworth.

I love farms! They take me back to my childhood, when I spent countless weekends on my grandad’s farm in Wiltshire. Having been asked to look after the grandchildren for the weekend, I thought I’d take the opportunity of introducing them to the sights and sounds (and smells!) that had become so familiar to me, all those years ago. I phoned Take Me Home James, and arranged for a car to come pick us up… Continue reading »

  2. A Picnic in Ampthill Park

A view overlooking the Marston Vale from Ampthill Park.

When it comes to planning outdoor pursuits, I try not to plan too far ahead these days; it seems that we are all at the mercy of the great British weather, so was pleasantly surprised when mid-May presented us with a beautiful clear day! Image of an airport destination board.

I’m not usually a morning person, but I make an exception when holidays are involved! The wife and I had booked two weeks in Mauritius, with the obligatory 6am flight out from Luton Airport. We could have booked a room at one of the many hotels spanning Airport Way, but decided against it, due to it not really giving us much of an advantage on the impending morning flight. 5. The Best Taxi in Shefford?

Image of the Take Me Home James logo on the side of one of our Mercedes Vitos.

Shefford may be a small market town in Mid Bedfordshire with a population of only five and a half thousand, but it is host to a couple of taxi companies. While this is probably due to the lack of decent public transport services in the area – the railway line between Bedford and Hitchin has long gone, and the current bus services are sporadic in both destinations and running times – for most journeys, private hire is the only way to go if you want to get in or out of town.
